Most driveway-gate projects want automation, and the time to plan for it is before the gate exists. We design the leaf, posts, and clearances around the operator from day one — swing-arm or slide, solar or hardwired — so the finished system works as one piece instead of an opener bolted onto a gate that was never meant to carry it.
Openers, keypads, remotes, vehicle sensors, and intercom or phone-based entry are specified with the gate and coordinated with trusted local installers where electrical or low-voltage work calls for a licensed trade. You get one working entry system and one point of responsibility for it.

It depends on size, design, and automation more than anything else. As rough guidance: a custom walk or garden gate typically starts around a few hundred dollars; a fabricated single or double driveway gate usually lands in the low-to-mid thousands; and ornate wrought iron or automated entry systems run higher once operators and access control are included. Plan on two to four weeks from an approved drawing to installation for most residential gates, depending on shop schedule and finish lead times. Automated systems add time for operator hardware and electrical coordination. If you have a hard date — a move-in, an event, livestock arriving — tell us up front and we will give you a schedule we can actually hold.

Very well when they are built for it. Intense UV, blowing sand, and 60-degree daily temperature swings destroy cheap finishes, and irrigation spray finds unsealed steel. We seal welded assemblies so moisture cannot collect inside the tube, prime and powder coat with exterior-rated systems, and use weathering steel deliberately where a natural patina suits the design. A properly finished gate here needs an occasional hinge service, not a repaint every three summers.
Usually, yes. Bring us a photo and a measurement and we will tell you honestly whether we can match the profile, infill, and finish closely enough to read as original — or whether the better answer is a deliberate contrast. We build custom fencing and railings as well, so gate-and-fence packages come out of one shop with one finish system.
